We are moving beyond the workshop and going into the field. FTS Kids News is an educational, interactive online program in which kids not only watch the news, but in fact, make the news themselves! Using our “Spy Kids” inspired style investigative discoveries will teach your child to find and report the exciting stories, interview local heroes, and positive events that are taking place in their own city. Their work will be reported to a national audience.

Our  6-week program is available for kids aged 8 to 16, including parents participation.

 

What your Junior Reporter will accomplish:

• On-Camera Confidence: Mastering the art of public speaking and presentation. They will gain confidence to speak in front of the camera.

• Media Literacy: Understanding how to find facts and tell ethical and uplifting story lines.

​

• The "Spy Kids" Toolkit: Learning "the investigative secrets that make great journalists."

​

• National Platform: Their reports will be featured on our nationwide FTS Kid News Channel.

 

"After the completion of the 4-6-week program, your child will be equipped with a professional Digital News Reel boasting their excellent reporting."

Parents, with this completed project, you may share and post on all your social media platforms.  An extra bonus, when your child is ready for higher education, their project can be used with their college applications.  What is so exciting is, your "Kid Reporter" will receive an IMDb credit. If your child does a great job, they can possibly be called for future assignments. This has happened many times.

 

Parent participation:

*Assist Kid Reporter with finding a story like a good deed happening in your area or a kid being brave, or accomplished something outstanding. One of our FTS Staff will be available to help assist you with this process.

*Parents are needed to record the footage where it shows the kid covering the news. Parents, you are responsible to submit the footage to our editors.

 

There are 3 online trainings that need to be completed:

• 15-20 minute Kid Reporter Training

• 15-20 minute Script Prep

• 15-20 minute Parent/Camera Operator Prep

 

When you enroll your child, you will receive an email with details to begin the training. Also, a "SPY KID" Tool Kit and a digital (or printable) Official FTS Press ID.
